Letting Go

We never got acquainted with spring”

It was August

The sun scorched and blistered our skin

We would sweat and pant and we didn’t drink enough water

We wanted more than anything for it to be winter

It was January

The snow built up on the sides of the road

It mixed with the filth of our streets and made us painfully aware of the dirt we were living in

We wanted more than anything for it to be spring

We never got acquainted with spring

You would have loved it
